The accelerated work week involves working fewer hours so more people can be employed, while avoiding purchasing overpriced brands and other unnecessary things which only put more money into the pockets of corporations.

The reason why people have NOT adopted this yet is that they are deluded into thinking that the US needs more rich people to 'escape' from the depression, when the reality is that the rich are earning more than ever.
The plan is simple. 1/3 of those who are eligible for food stamps don't use them; we simply encourage everyone to use, and even abuse this and other government welfare programs until the middle class agrees to use the accelerated work week.
As people stop purchasing brands, corporate profits decrease and with it, income for the super rich (who are donating much of their money to charity anyway).

That sounds as effective as
That sounds as effective as an opinion piece a lady wrote out here in Washington State. Her solution to unemployment would be to cut the state minimum living wage from just over $9.00 / hr. to $1.00 / hr, that way we could have nine workers for the same amount of money spent on one.
Diminishing lower and middle class pay or hours is absolutely absurd, and sounds like a 1% idea. When America was at it's peak employment, union membership, and worker wage level, we were making progress as a nation. The rich were comfortably rich, corporations sustained themselves, cities and communities were thriving economically all though there were social growing pains.
The ill's of the working class are the byproduct of the void created by globalization and automation. Some aspects of globalization like economic interdependence which would foster cooperation among countries, lessen global poverty, and potentially large scale conflicts have worked out, though there is much human and environmental exploitation, while the void left from job losses in the West has never been filled, and never will be restored with the continuation of our current policies. Even now, many new green energy companies are offshoring and outsourcing their manufacturing and services.
Part-time work is downward mobility. It should not be embraced, or thought of as a temporary solution, which it is not, it creates more problems than it solves.
We need to vote out those who obstructed jobs bills that were put before them, those who support tax cuts for the rich, initiate elective war's, reduce the social safety net, and will cut the 99% to the bone with austerity measures because that is a direct action with results based in reality, possible in the near future for hundreds of millions of people. I think it is safe to say that the American people are still looking for the American Dream.
You don't seem to understand.
You don't seem to understand. This would result in higher wage rates for workers, not lower.
